Solid, Reliable, Convenient Tennis Ball Machine Very nice, feature-packed machine. Quick shipping — we ordered ours directly from Lobster Sports and they delivered it the next day. It was nice that they also included the fast charger instead of the regular charger along with it. After one complete season with it, we think this machine is great. You set it up on the opposite baseline, select height, sweep, speed and spin choices and you’re good on the other side for singles or doubles drills. It oscillates in narrow mode in the single-player lines, and in wide mode in the doubles lines, and you have a good 15 minutes with a full hopper. We used to have a Tennis Tutor2 and the Lobster is much more portable and easier to handle than that brand, and more reliable — at least in our first season of use — too. The battery charge has stayed strong for about a week at a time with an hour of use per day — it holds its charge a lot longer than I expected it to, pleasantly surprised with that aspect of it. Also the Lobster is quite…

I’ve used for 2 years, you can do better I have used a Lobster portable ball machine and a Playmate ball machine for 2 and 5 years, respectively, both personally and with a school tennis team. The Lobster has complicated touch button controls (instead of dials, knobs, and switches) located low on the back red part of the machine. Absent a remote control, you have to get on your hands and knees to access the controls. And worse, it’s difficult to get the machine to produce the desired result from the touch controls: 1) the big problem is that you must pause the machine, 2) then you hit the menu button, then hit up/down keys, 3) you turn it back on to see if you get the result you want. Often not. For example, add some spin/speed and balls may shoot off the court. So you have to start the whole process over again trial and error until you get a useable result.Contrast this with the Playmate’s simple dials, knobs, and switches which you can adjust as it shoots balls. It may not sound flashy, but it’s…

This is an excellent ball machine, you can use its various adjustments to automatically feed the ball across the court horizontally and vertically. We use it mostly to fix specific strokes with a constant feed to fore-hand or backhand, volley etc. At the end of the session use the auto feeding horizontally and vertically to round up your lessons learned!
